On Saturday, Dec. 10, (2011) The Ben Hogan Learning Center officially opened for business. “It is truly a dream come true and a facility that will benefit tens of thousands of Fort Worth youth for many years to come,” said Executive Director Robert Stennett of the Ben Hogan Foundation.
The Ben Hogan Learning Center is a state-of-the-art $1.5 million, 5,800-foot facility that is now the home for The First Tee of Fort Worth. The Ben Hogan Learning Center not only has the offices and classrooms for The First Tee of Fort Worth, it provides a library and computer room, swing room, club repair room, teen hangout and a museum that honors the memory of Ben Hogan and celebrates the rich history of golf in Fort Worth. In 2011, over 15,000 children and teens participated in one or more programs offered by The First Tee of Fort Worth making Fort Worth the fastest growing First Tee chapter in the world. With this facility now opened, The First Tee will be able to grow that number significantly in future years creating a wonderful culture of future leaders in the Fort Worth area.
The First Tee is a World Golf Foundation initiative dedicated to providing young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship.
