PATRIOT GOLF DAY
At the early peak of Mr. Hogan’s career, he joined the Army Air Corps to proudly serve his country. Mr. Hogan always had a warm place in his heart for the men and women who serve this nation so bravely. It is with this spirit that the Foundation designated its fifth initiative - Support of Military. In 2008, the Ben Hogan Foundation began this support by a pledge to Patriot Golf Day – a joint venture between the PGA of America and the USGA. Patriot Golf Day was established in 2007 as a fundraising program of the Folds of Honor Foundation and Wounded Warriors, Inc. that supports families of servicemen and women injured or killed while protecting our nation. In 2008, Patriot Golf Day will occur on Labor Day weekend, August 29 – September 1. Initial Patriot Golf Day scholarships to children of veterans will be awarded in the spring of 2008 to aid students beginning the fall semester. Executive Director of the Ben Hogan Foundation Robert Stennett stated, “It is certainly our honor and indeed our privilege to support the families of our heroes who so proudly serve our country and provide for the freedom we enjoy each day.”
